Excisional goniotomy with KDB decreases IOP over long-term in eyes with POAG
Standalone excisional goniotomy with the Kahook Dual Blade (KDB) in eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma decreased intraocular pressure (IOP) over long-term follow-up, according to a poster presented at the European Glaucoma Society Congress 2022.
In this retrospective chart review of 39 eyes that underwent excisional goniotomy with KDB, there was a mean IOP reduction of 26.4% from baseline to month 48 (20.4 mmHg to 15 mmHg). At month 48, medication use remained similar to baseline. In 85% of cases (33/39), no additional surgery was needed to manage IOP.
There was one reported case of procedure-related mild iritis.
